Well what
a return to the VSOC fold, after missing almost two years of rallies I was back.
To celebrate I brought the sun along with me. Ah the
joys of riding as a group to rallies, through country roads, while farmers
toiled the earth either side. The site at Royston did not upset this rural idyll
blending well as the campsite filled. The
rejects ended up with 22 party animals on site, it was Christos and Jemmas first
rally but by looks of the smiles certainly wont be the last. Surely
there is no better way to spend an afternoon than in good company just chilling
on the field watching folk smile as they ride in. A plethora
of stall catered for our every whim and with the sun shining brightly so the
hats and sunglasses sold steadily. Nearby the
Cambridge folk festival gave woolly jumpered hippies the joys of men singing
strange songs, here the leather clad masses had the joys of the Bald eagle disco
and two of the best rally bands on the circuit Glam-r-us on the Friday and
Camouflage on the Saturday, what a show they both put on. Having
enjoyed Friday a little too much Friday we missed the ride-outs but followed
Paul’s Sat nav the 37 miles to a local pub (less than 14 miles from the site)
who says technologies great eh? Saturday
afternoon also found us watching a free airshow from the nearby Duxford air
museum, where they had a Falklands Celebration. Grumpy would just have
celebrated if he could have got his kite to fly. What
surprised me most were the amount of trikes and trailers now being used, and the
weird and wonderful variation of them. Saturday
saw a bit of rain but as most of us were dancing the night away it wasn’t
noticed until you found the tent a little damp, ooops. An
enthusiastic ride home on the Sunday found me back in time for a roast and an
afternoon nap. What an
absolutely cracking rally, well done to all in C10 Roll on
