Paint ball
Games by Peter Murfitt
We
arrive at Campaign Cobham with sun shining. Six
from Wiltshire Scrumpies, Steve and his boys, Bob, Ian and myself (son
of Ian ). Anne and Alan turn up a bit later. Paint balls purchased,
safety instructions listened to, off we go, pick up guns, test them and
off to the first scenario Village, Blacks (us) against Whites and the
rain starts. In the woods it’s a fight to capture the enemies flag and
return it to home camp. Paint balls flying every where we charge out
after 15 hectic minutes - game over, a draw neither team capturing a
flag. Swap ends and off we go again. Sad to say we lost but enjoyed the
fight. Back for coffee and a dry off.
Coffee
over and it’s off to the jungle to fight against the Reds. The rain
comes down harder but who notices when having fun crawling through the
mud and bushes. Our first win of the day as I raced back to camp with
the Reds flag. Sadly the Reds won the next round. The rain eased a
little and it was back for lunch, warm up and purchase some more ammo as
we were getting carried away in all the excitement.
Lunch
over and it was off to Speed ball against the Blues. A rapid fire charge
from one end of the field to the other with short stops behind the
barricades. Four rounds later, one win each and two draws it’s back
for coffee and tea. Refreshed and tidied up it was off for the last
battle of the day once again against the Reds in the dense woodland. Two
rounds - first drawn, second lost and everyone using all their ammo up
blasting as many as possible (who wants to take it home anyway !). As we
trekked back to the starting area to find out the final scores, the sun
shone. Back in the start area it was return everything and find out our
position Fourth out of four - but hey it was great fun and who worries
about winning. Well maybe next time. A sincere thanks to Steve for
organising it and when’s the next one ?

Steve's account
(as he was nursing his bruises)
We
have just come back from paint balling, and wot a good laugh we had, and
a big thank you to Wiltshire for joining up with us to kill all the
enemy !
Just
a few things I would like to say to centre 14:
A:
You were supposed to protect your centre rep under fire from the enemy.
B:
You were not supposed to shoot your centre rep
(twice in the back!)
C:
You were supposed to listen to my every command.
D:
No first aid was administered to your centre rep, even though I
soldiered on.
E:
Bad language directed at your centre rep like, pussy, tart, big
girl, Mr Mainwaring etc etc
There
were eight teams fighting it out all day and , well we would have come
first but looking at the score board we had points deducted for USB
(unelectable social behavior). Now you know and I know that we are South
London & Surrey, so it must have been that aggressive Wiltshire lot
that let us down.
Bloody
good day !
